Spin Physics and Imaging - Degen Lab

"Spin", the magnetic moment of electrons and atomic nuclei, is a fundamental property of matter that enables, for example, modern disk drive technology or medical imaging by MRI. Our group pushes the limits of instrumentation to measure spins with very high sensitivity and to image them with very high spatial resolution. We expect that this will, in turn, enable powerful new applications in quantum and condensed matter physics, surface science, and structural biology. Read more...

Our group is currently moving to ETH from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge MA, USA, and we will be around more often as the summer of 2011 approaches. Here is our website at MIT.

For questions, inquiries and applications please contact Christian Degen.

We are part of the Laboratory for Solid State Physics at the Department of Physics of ETH Zurich. We are also a member of the recently established National Center of Competence in Research in Quantum Science and Technology (NCCR QSiT) in Switzerland. Resources for the Degen lab
